I had never been to Florida before and while travelling decided to take a detour to Fort Walton which sits on the Gulf of Mexico and am I glad we did. It is truly the Emerald Coast with its stretch of pure white sandy beach over-looking the bluest sea reached by a wooden boardwalk. When we arrived at the beach it was lunchtime and I think there was only about 20 people scattered along this fantastic coastline. The town itself is one long street dotted with small shops and great restaurants. But drive on through and over the bridge towards Choctawhatchee Bay you will find South Waltons Visitors centre where they will have loads of entertainment details and ...
