I had never been to Florida before and while travelling decided to take a detour to Fort Walton which sits on the Gulf of Mexico and am I glad we did. It is truly the Emerald Coast with its stretch of pure white sandy beach over-looking the bluest sea reached by a wooden boardwalk. When we arrived at the beach it was lunchtime and I think there was only about 20 people scattered along this fantastic coastline. The town itself is one long street dotted with small shops and great restaurants.
