***Getting There*** The reality is that you are unlikely to go on holiday to Australia to specifically stay in Fremantle and it will more than likely be a place for a day out or overnight stay. As we had free flights to Perth from Sydney then a day trip to Fremantle was a must. When you book your holiday to Australia you may well consider staying in Perth to see some of the West Coast of Oz. What about Fremantle? Well most of you will have never heard of it, I wouldn't have if I didn't have family there. Well put it down under on the places you should stay! Fremantle is very close to Perth, only about 25 minutes on the train. It is a little port town that has a really relaxed atmosphere. Nowhere else have I found cars stop to let you cross the road without the order from traffic lights! Tucked away in the farthest corner of Australia at the mouth of the Swan River lies Fremantle, the port of Perth, which is just a few kilometres further inland up the river. Fremantle is a town on its own with enough to keep you occupied for quite a while. Not only is it an ideal and friendlier base to explore the local area, but also is an excellent place to start and end any trip around Western Australia and indeed the entire country.
