Gambia in the new year (Gambia)
Member Name: mick H
Advantages: Lovely weather, lovely beaches, nice hotel Disadvantages: Hassle on the streets
Just returned back from a one week stay in Gambia, over the New Year period, all in all it was a really nice holiday. The good points, well we stayed in the Ocean Bay hotel that was really nice, friendly helpfull staff, and a nice location on a lovely stretch of the beech. The weather was perfect, not too hot, perfect for sunbathing and chilling out on the beech. The Gambian people are friendly and polite and very laid back, they love their New Year and it was very special being their. Ok now a few bad points, you can not walk the streets without being hassled, and it became quite irritating that you could not spend any quality time just taking in the area, the markets, or what ever you wanted to do without somebody wanting to act as you guide, sell you something, or show you about. Dont get me wrong, they are friendly and are only wanting to make a living, but it did begin to grind me down. You just spend your entire time saying, no thankyou Im fine, Im ok on my own, I will look in your shop on the way back, you will be going to sleep saying it believe me. Summary: Nice Holiday, very different |
