Gatlinburg is a strange town which seems to be trying to hang onto its mountain town image, whilst at the same time wanting to get as many tourists to visit as possible by providing all sorts of tacky attractions. As you walk along the main street you see many buildings which look very old and original and quite picturesque. The only problem is they house amusement arcades or tacky gift shops. Gatlinburg is older in style than neighbouring Pigeon Forge, but just as commercialised. We visited Ripley’s Aquarium which only opened this year. Gatlinburg is an exciting place. There are lots to do and the streets are all lit up. The teenagers here in Tennessee like to drive to Gatlinburg to cruise the strip and meet all kinds of new people. Gatlinburg is filled with friendly people. While you are walking or driving you will see plenty of fixed up cars and trucks and vehicles of all kinds. The hotels are really nice the the workers will about help you to find anything you need to. I stayed in Gatlinburg for my honeymoon and I had a blast. My hotel room had a kitchen, fireplace, hot tub, and a king size bed. I loved it ...

Gatlinburg is bursting at the seams with things to do day and night. Plenty of entertainment goes on from theatre shows to live music. The atmosphere is very much on enjoying yourselves and although we were told it would appeal more to adults we found a great mix of ages and all the children we seen looked like they were enjoying themselves. As we drove or walked through the town, especially at night we noticed how dressed up the place was. That’s because Americans like to celebrate anything and everything and who are we to complain if it makes people happy.
