Geneva ... Switzerland (after Zürich), and is the most populous city of Romandy (the French-speaking part of Switzerland). It is situated where Lake Geneva (French Lac Léman) flows into the Rhône River, and is the capital of the Republic and Canton of Geneva. The population within the city limits is 185,526 (2004) and that of the metropolitan area — which extends into France and Vaud — is about 750,000. A 2006 survey found Geneva to have the second highest quality of living in the world (after Zürich).

Geneva is surely one of the most pleasant cities to live and visit I know. It is a unique city because it is the siege of a huge number of NGOs, including the UN. My husband & I visited Geneva last month & loved it. It's just such a big city with so much to do. We went to the Reformation museum & Red Cross museum, but there are also art museums, a watch museum and others. Cathedral is worth a visit- we went to a concert there which was a great experience. Also visited some sights to do with Jean Calvin the Christian reformer - such as the Reformation Wall. We visited the market in Plainpalais which was an interesting experience! It's only there on Sat & Wed mornings though. Went on a lovely cruise on Lake Geneva. Make sure you take a swimming cossie too cos at "Geneve Plage" there are outdoor pools and a ...

Firstly, Geneva really isn't that big. Unless there's a real difference in prices in the hotels yo've been offered, don't get hung up on trying to find a hotel near the airport - buses go into town every 10 minutes, they're pretty cheap (currently it's 3SFr for a 60-minute pass) and it only takes 15 minutes to be in the centre. Once ...
