GermanyNewest Review: ... for fear of it falling off. Pack for stereotypical weather - blustery autumns, fresh but chilly springs - and you should be fine. SEASONS IN GERMANY Germany has a lot going on throughout the year, but the most well known event is the Christmas Markets. Almost every city now has one, but the best are found in the region I live in. Stalls line the main street and all the squares, offering ... more |

Today's my last day at work in Germany. A year after I arrived, I have to say good bye to my colleagues, pack up my belongings and jump on a BA flight back to Manchester. I'll be taking a break for the next few weeks as I get back to life in the UK, so what better way than to step down, temporarily at least, than with an op on the place I currently call home? GETTING TO GERMANY With flights from 60 GBP return, there's never been a better time than now to come and visit the country. If you can't (or won't) fly, you can drive, or come by train or coach. The main airport is Frankfurt international, but along with this there are ... Read the complete review

Every so often in my life I decide to do something new. Sometimes this can be achieved with a very basic action. Changing my pants, for example. Sometimes it can involve a whole load more upheaval. I'm moving to Spain in just over 2 weeks from today. But that's OK, because I speak Spanish, I know their culture, and how to ask where the nearest toilets are. Sometimes however, my desires for new and exciting things take me to strange, new worlds. Like a real life Captain Kirk. For those of you who actually believe Captain Kirk really is real, watch "Galaxy Quest" with Alan Rickman, then Join the Queue behind my Mum at the 'Broken ... Read the complete review

I just had to write my opinion about Germany. When I was a student in the late 80s I had to spend a year abroad as an assistant teacher in Germany. I was sent off to Kassel in North Hessen, and at first I thought I was going to have a horrible time.... but that did not last for long! the first myth that should be dispelled is the Germans. They are generally a wonderfully warm and friendly nation. Imagine what everyone's operception of the Brits would be if they looks at the mobs in Marbella? The Germans know when to have a good laugh and they certainly know how to enjoy themselves. There a number of tips to use if you are staying in Germany for any ... Read the complete review

At first I could not decide whether to post this opinion in the "wine"-category or in this one: "Germany". But I guess, if you plan to visit Germany, you will probably be interested in the local beverages. If not, there would be no reason for you to try German wines, as their international reputation is not too good. Why is this so? Carry on reading! So now for the wines of the wine-area of Rhine, Mosel an Nahe: In the area of those three rivers (west/southwest of Frankfurt) the landscape is determinated by wine hills, wineries an wine-villages with wine-pubs. You can get the best German wines here - they do not have to hide behind ... Read the complete review

Ok so Germany doesn't exactly have an exotic climate, golden beaches or blue skies almost all year round but somehow it makes a great holiday and its cheap too. I visited some of the small towns and villages in the mid west of the country and I must say that I found it much more enjoyable in a rural area than I would in a big busting German city. Maybe the cities have the sites and night life what the German country side makes up for this with it spectacular scenery and its here that you really get to experience the German culture. You get to see the vineyards and although German wine isn't exactly known round the world make sure this fits into your holiday, ... Read the complete review
