GreeceNewest Review: ... even with the rubbish. It is at this point I can laugh at it and start to relax. I do find Greece both physically and mentally relaxing when I have re-learned the art of it. Greece is a great teacher of this. I am forced to confront my wound-up ways and laugh at myself along with the laid back nature of Greece. Kos (Dodecanese) - A quite typical Greek adventure ----------------------- I ... more |

As my daughter is currently on holiday in Kos and my mind is often straying there (I have been before) wondering what she is up to - so I thought I'd give my own review on the Greek Islands. Sometimes it is hard for me to believe that Greece is generally considered the birthplace of modern civilization when I have been to visit the Greek Islands. I love going to Greece - perhaps more than any other country I have visited - but no matter how I steel myself for the cultural differences - I still find myself being too 'British' when I am there. The Greek Islands are divided into the following groups: Saronic Isles, Cycladese, Ionian Isles, ... Read the complete review

Greece is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Europe, if not the world, and there are very good reasons for this. Blessed with the warm climate of the southern Europe, boasting fascinating and diverse mainland, long coast and hundreds of islands dotted over the eastern Mediterranean, Greece would be a place worth visiting even if all it had was its natural beauty. But Greece is also a true cradle of European culture - with a wealth of historical monuments and antique archaeological sites that no other country can possibly rival. Its known history spans several millennia, from the Minoan civilisation of Crete to the glory of classical ... Read the complete review

Greek food is simple yet delicious, varied with something for all tastes and at it's very best in a Taverna in Greece! This summer I visited my 3rd Greek Island - Plakias in Crete in 1997, Alikanas, Zante in 2000 and Pefkos in Rhodes last week! And I am now a devoted fan of Greek food! The majority of people visit Greece as part of a Package Holiday. In these resorts, everyone speaks English and the majority of activities cater for us Brits - hardly a great insite into the Greek culture. But this is why I love the food so much. I am quite well-travelled and I have found that investigating the food of a foriegn country one of the most fascinating ... Read the complete review
