Guadalajara. I stayed in Guadalajara about 5 months ago for a few days. We arrived at night, which was a bit disconcerting, as we were carrying all our belongings, and had no idea where we were going to stay. We had chosen a hotel from our travel guide, and eventually found it. Hotel Hamilton was its name, and it was quite possibly the worst place I have ever had to sleep in. Rooms are cheap but prison like, and are available on an hourly basis. I don’t think I should refer to this place as a hotel, more of a brothel. When most foreigners think of Mexico they think of mariachi bands, tequila and pretty girls. Well, you can find all of these in Guadalajara, Mexico's second largest city. Guadalajara (meaning "river of rock" in arab) is a beautiful city, with wonderful gardens, modern shopping centers and the most traditional plaza of any large city. It is in fact the plaza Garibaldi where mariachis originate from.
