I was in Gumbet this year in July and was the best holiday I have ever been on! I went with my family and another family, 9 of us in total. We flew from Belfast international airport and arrived in Bodrum airport, My first impressions of Turkey were it was very hot as it was about 28 degrees in the middle of the night. The coach journey to Gumbet lasted about 1 and a half hours. The apart hotel I stayed in where the Mimosa apartments and these apartmetns are well known by all the locals in the shops, bars etc. By about 8 o'clock in the morning we stepped out into bar street which is about 2 mins from the apartments and were greeted by the 1st local in a ...  Read the complete review

I went to Gumbet in the summer of 2000, and having been to Turkey before I was aware of what things could be like, so the baron countryside, steep cliff edges and the way in which the tarmac roads suddenly become dirt tracks were of no shock to me. To the other ten lads that I had gone with, it was a fairly new experience. After the fairly short flight we arrived in Turkey at about 2 o clock in the morning, and were due for about another two hours by coach to Gumbet itself. It was at this point we were glad they had decided to do this particular journey at night, so as not see the dangerous cliff edges to the right of the bus! This aside the trip so far was going ...  Read the complete review

I spent a week in Gumbet in June, 2000. Our apartment was excellent, with a really good view over the bay and the staff were really friendly and helpful. The town itself is nothing to write home about ? pretty boring. There are loads of multicultural restaurants; that is, they sell Indian, Chinese, Italian and Turkish as well as all the usual steak with a sauce variations, etc. There are also loads of bars but hey, that?s what this kind of holiday is about and the nightlife is reasonably good. The people are very friendly and some really loved us Scots so much they married them. I thought I was being wound up at first and it was all sales patter but I was ...  Read the complete review

We went to Gumbet in Turkey for our honeymoney 3 years ago. It is a small town, but with lots of shops and nightlife. Bodrum is only 10 minutes away. The main problem for me was the time it took to get there and back. It was around 3 -4 hours on the plane, and then it took 4 hours on the coach to get to Gumbet. An absolute nightmare on the way home, as we were delayed 8 hours as well!! I think there is an airport open now in Bodrum; which is a lot nearer. Gumbet itself was a lovely place, lots going on, nice beach and friendly people. However, I didn't like the Turkish men much as they used to hassle me a lot, not very nice when you are with your ...  Read the complete review

HOTEL BAA BA I stayed at this hotel i really enjoyed my holiday the staff where really great fun ask for Harron at the poolside bar he made us all feel welcomed, The hotel also provide a day trip on a boat to see 5 diferant bays for £10.00 the algian sea is really something to see. Gumbet is a bit of an odd place lots to see and do but you can get hassel because they all want you to eat at their cafes but once they know you they tend to respect you if you are polite and say no I am off to Bodrum for the night, Turkey has a place in Europe and i hope they will be able to join us all. They could teach us all about how our conserve their natural resources. ...  Read the complete review

The Celsus Library is in amazing condtion and makes for great photographs Can get very crowded and the summer sun can make this a slog

Two attractions for the price of one. Roman ruins and unique natural wonder. Tourism has had a negative impact on the area.
