Gumbet

I was in Gumbet this year in July and was the best holiday I have ever been on! I went with my family and another family, 9 of us in total. We flew from Belfast international airport and arrived in Bodrum airport, My first impressions of Turkey were it was very hot as it was about 28 degrees in the middle of the night. The coach journey to Gumbet lasted about 1 and a half hours. I went to Gumbet in the summer of 2000, and having been to Turkey before I was aware of what things could be like, so the baron countryside, steep cliff edges and the way in which the tarmac roads suddenly become dirt tracks were of no shock to me. To the other ten lads that I had gone with, it was a fairly new experience. After the fairly short flight we arrived in Turkey at about 2 o clock in the morning, and were due for about another two hours by coach to Gumbet itself. I spent a week in Gumbet in June, 2000. Our apartment was excellent, with a really good view over the bay and the staff were really friendly and helpful. The town itself is nothing to write home about ? pretty boring. There are loads of multicultural restaurants; that is, they sell Indian, Chinese, Italian and Turkish as well as all the usual steak with a sauce variations, etc. There are also loads of bars but hey, that?s what this kind of holiday is about and the nightlife is reasonably good.
