Guyana means 'Land of Many Waters' and most of them are brown, but that doesn't mean they are dirty, it's just because it is where all those Amazonian type rivers join the sea. It's a beautiful country. Most of the small population lives along the coastal strip, while the vast interior is home to Amerindians, intrepid explorers and adventurers (often after gold and diamonds), spider monkeys, pirai (piranhas), the usual jungle stuff. Actually not the usual stuff, as naturalists would know. I just know that when I lived there it was hot, and humid, and the mosquitoes were so bad that come sunset I had to be under my net.
