Advantages: Beautiful Beach, Lovely people

Disadvantages: Expensive to fly there from Europe

I can't say enough good things about this place! Hoi An is a beautiful little town sitting on the South China Sea in Central Vietnam, it is easily accessed by bus from Hue (4 hours), Nha Trang (10 hours) and HCMC (+15 hours).

The town itself is famous for its tailor shops and there is literally one on every street corner. You get used to being hassled to buy tailor made clothes but the people are just super friendly and they want to show off what they can make for you at such a reasonable price. There are a number of great cafes and restaurants around the town, mostly serving traditional Vietnamese food. There is also a lovely market which serves great street food. At night there are a couple of bars open, the best probably being Club Salsa which is a great place to meet people from Vietnam and all over the world.

The beach is a couple of miles out of the town but it is cheap and easy to hire a bike or moped or numerous taxi drivers will be willing to take you. The beach is beautiful, empty, clean and lined with some great seafood restaurants.

Summary: Don't miss out on this gem of a place!
