Advantages: Short flight time, Lively if you want it to be, Quiet if you don't

Disadvantages: Bad reputation

Everyone has heard the stories about Ibiza so when I announced I was going, my parents were understandably concerned. But the Ibiza I found was very different from the one I expected. Yes, it has great clubs (our favourite was one called Es Paridis) and great bars (try Mambo, just next to Cafe del Mar) on the seafront, but it also has a lot more to offer. For example, if you make it up in time, go to Ibiza town, about 45 mins away by bus from San Antonio Town and San Antonio Bay (where we stayed). Here you can sample the delights of Ibiza market which sells all sorts of odds and ends and is surrounded by some great shops, selling everything from ridiculously high platform boots to extravagant jewellery.

If you stay the day, you can wander along the habour or go up to Ibiza castle and take in a bit of culture. Plus the view off the top of the castle is amazing - you can see right accross to the other side of the bay. It is a bit of a hike up to the top, but well worth it. The restaurants and cafes in Ibiza Town are also fantastic and cater very well for English tastes!

The bus isn't very expensive so it's well-worth going for a day. In fact, generally, Ibiza is not an expensive place for a holiday - we took £200 each and still had change left at the end. Items like clothes still will be the same as English prices though so beware and take a currency converter with you.

The local food is great if you like fresh fish. Besides tourism, Ibiza's main product is fish and shellfish, so if you like traditiona Paella, here is where to find it.
Also, Ibiza is a great place for families (surprisingly!) and many of them stay in the hotels and apartments in San Antonion Town which is infinitely quieter (great for when you come out of a club and just want to sleep!) Plus the sun isn't too hot in September when we went so there will probably be families there at that time of year.

Finally, beware of the beach, especially at n
ight after you rolled out of a bar - one of our friends accidently stood on a sea urching which are quite common in the waters and spent the next few days in agony as the spines cannot be pulled out - they crumble instead. He got some cream to get them out thought from the doctor's, so don't worry - it won't ruin your holiday!

To Mr Writer - I'm a girl, men buy my drinks, not me! That's how you get away with just taking £200, as it's not a very expensive place if you know how to do things properly!

I'm afraid I was rather put off by Ibiza Uncovered, even though people have told me this is not the 'real' Ibiza. I prefer somewhere a bit less, um, full of British people too!
