Ibiza Doesn't Just Have to be for Clubbers (Ibiza)

Wonderful, enchanting, exciting, beautiful, delightful and friendly are just a few of the words that begin to describe Ibiza.

I have lost count of the number of times that I have visited the incredible island because I just keep getting drawn back there time and again. It is rare for me to return to a place more than once, as I like to see as many places as possible. There is something about the atmosphere of the place that can not be described but you feel it even before the plane lands.

Usually we stay at Playa den Bossa or Figurettes, both of which are just outside the capital, Ibiza Town.
We have also stayed just outside San Antonio, where we also found no problems of excess noise.

Playa den Bossa boasts several of the large clubs, and, despite not frequenting these, we have never been bothered by noise or rowdiness at all.

Ibiza Town becomes alive at night with many unusual people milling around the restaurants and bars. It is an experience to sit and people watch in the wonderful surroundings of the Dalt Vila, which is the old walled city. There is a myriad of excellent establishments to eat and drink at in this area.

Driving around the island is easy and nowhere is very far away from you with it being a relatively small island. Most of the roads are quite good and drivers are pretty good too, although they do tend to hoot if you are slow to cross a junction or when lights turn green at traffic lights.

A trip to the Hippy market at Es Cana is an absolute must for anyone going to Ibiza. So many different things can be bought and many people can be seen posing as statues or doing tricks. It is worth taking care outside the market though as often there are conmen doing tricks with a pea under a piece of hollowed out potato. Having seen the pea go under one of three pieces of potato, you are convinced that you still know where it is after the potatoes are swapped around. Before you have a try you will
have seen various people win but they are always friends of the conman. Unfortunately, whilst you are distracted by the man doing the trick, an accomplice completely removes the pea. A rather unfortunate person in our party lost £40 in one go that way, despite our screams at him to ignore the trick completely.

The beaches are generally very clean and pleasant and the sea crystal clear. Snorkelling is quite good around the whole of the coast.

An aquarium at Cap Blanc, just through San Antonio, is incredible. It is set in to a cave and has a whole host of sea-life swimming in it.

If you are travelling abroad for the first time, I think that it would be impossible to beat Ibiza as the choice of destinations.
