After there being so much fuss over Turkey one year I decided I had to go and see what it was all about. I booked with the holiday operator Direct Holidays and then the holiday came so quick and I was at the airport. I flew with Monarch airlines which I had been told were quite good. Leg room was nothing great but still I didn't care. It was a 4 hour journey and entertainment was terrible, things were OK though and it was quite comfortable and the radio was quite good. After the journey was over I landed in Dalaman Airport and set off to my hotel which was the Hotel Gol-Mar. I was quite impressed it was an ok hotel, a pool and a private beach so ...

Everything has already been said about the beauty of Icmeler in the other submitted opinions. I will try to help out a little with suggestions of places to eat and drink ,and a couple of other things thrown in! One place we like to go to is OKIMO'S,spotlessly clean and always sure of a warm welcome from Jimmy & Uzlen. the food is always prepared fresh just for you. Jimmy was a Captain in the Turkish Merchant Navy so he can speak perfect English. Another favourite is the POP INN, looks small from the outside but there is plenty of room inside. They offer a very extensive menu, with both Turkish and English food,including mushy peas, if you must! ...

Oh, I really didn't want to go to Turkey, but I was out-voted by my husband and two sons aged 6 and 10. This would be our first trip to the country and I reluctantly packed for 2 weeks in the sun or what I very mistakenly thought was going to be two weeks in a relatively under-developed, somewhat dirty and greasy country. I have never been more wrong in my life.....
