Advantages: beautiful surroundings, friendly locals, safety

Disadvantages: noine,but I am biased!

Everything has already been said about the beauty of Icmeler in the other submitted opinions.
I will try to help out a little with suggestions of places to eat and drink ,and a couple of other things thrown in!
One place we like to go to is OKIMO'S,spotlessly clean and always sure of a warm welcome from Jimmy & Uzlen.
the food is always prepared fresh just for you. Jimmy was a Captain in the Turkish Merchant Navy so he can speak perfect English.
Another favourite is the POP INN, looks small from the outside but there is plenty of room inside. They offer a very extensive menu, with both Turkish and English food,including mushy peas, if you must! Always sure of a warm welcome here. Try the chicken curry , very creamy.
Within walking distance of Icmeler is the village of Inkinci. Here you will see some of the traditional life Turkey has to offer.
The housewives still carry the bundles of hay on their backs, while the men sit in the coffee houses drinking and smoking!
On your way through the village you will come across 2 typical coffee houses, and while the local women will never be found in them, western women are welcome.
Keep on walking out of the village, past the hotels and apartments and eventually you will come to the Turkish House. It is set in a very pretty garden and is very nice inside.
They serve food and drink, you will definitely need something by now!
If you decide to walk back through the village , walk to your left and on the corner there is a lovely little restaurant, I can remember when it was a farm. The food here is excellent.
My own personal choice is to stay in an apartment,as the food in the restaurants is so good and very reasonably priced.
We have never yet had an upset tummy while on holiday here.
It definitely is a quieter more up market resort than Marmaris.
Another thing which I think is a bonus these day's, not feeling threatened when walking back to your apartment at 2 or 3
in the morning.
The surrounding streets are very clean, even if they might not come up to some peoples expectations.
We love the place very much & have many good friends there.
