Advantages: A cave system that will simply take your breath away

Disadvantages: Guess it gets very busy in the summer months

If you are generally underwhelmed by tourist attractions all over the world then this is a place where all your previous disappointments will melt away. The main chamber at Frasassi Caves is over 200m high and 250m across. Stalactites and stalagmites sprout forth from all over this wonderful subterranean cave system. It really does look like a stage set out of 'Journey to the Centre of the Earth'.

The guided tour took nearly 2 hours and the audio guide was a big help as there were several nationalities within our group. The tour takes you through some of the most spectacular underground scenery in the world.

Discovered in September 1971 the Grotti Frasassi has become one of the 'must see sights' of the World. The standard tour is Euro15 adult, Euro13 concessionary and Euro10 for kids There is also an extended tour Euro35 for the real caving enthusiasts out there. This includes full waterproof suits and wading in water just above zero - nice!!

Summary: Be prepared to be amazed - simply stunning.
