Advantages: hot, fun, lovely island

Disadvantages: People trying 2 sell you stuff

Jamaica is a fantastic island to visit. Most people think that Jamaica is full of gangsters, drugs, weed, and ruff necks. But isn’t most places nowadays (cause I know London is).
What people need to do is recognise the facts of the country and basically stop being so small minded.
At first I was worried about going there, but at the end of my fantastic 6 weeks, I didn’t want to come home.

FACTS about Jamaica.
*Jamaica has over 153 hotels, plus over 843 cottages. ( I bet you never knew that!!!).
*There are no casinos in Jamaica but most hotels do have game rooms.
*The water is purified and filtered by the most modern methods. The temp for the water is about 25oF.
*Jamaica is the third largest Caribbean island; it is 146 miles at its widest point.
*The population of Jamaica was 2.4 million in 1990.
MORE about Jamaica
The food in the country is great a spicy, colourful mixture. A popular dish would have the include Ackee and Saltfish.
There is a place for everyone to visit in Jamaica, many tourists visit areas like Montego Bay, Negril and Ocho Rios.

A place that everyone must visit would have to be Dunn’s River Falls; it is majestic, and very popular. You body is being soaked and caressed by refreshing, cool, clear water, which is falling down 600 feet over rocks, the water then runs to meet with the Caribbean Sea. And added pleasure is the beautiful sandy beach below.

The currency is £1.00 = JA$56.20.

The Arts and Crafts of the island is great. There is such a variety, as there are creations in straw, clay, wood, shells, and stones. There are plenty of mini markets with stalls e.c.t

Obviously there are some disadvantages such as; beggars on the streets, crime and violence, but these actives mostly take place in areas such as Kingston, which is an area, not suitable for tourists. You will always have someone trying to sell you something in Jamaica but that’s n
ot something that will destroy your holiday.

So Have Fun, if you go!!!!

Good op, but I disagree about the level of hassle. We're from a rural area and we found this place a bit scary (Montego Bay). I wouldn't go very far at night as we felt intimidated by the many drug dealers, who were practically stuffing joints in our pockets at the Sumfest. I read that a survey of visiors to Jamaica last year found that 60% felt the hassle was too much, so you must either be resilient or lucky. Fortunately we were staying at Sandals and once we discovered the hassle was too much didn't bother leaving the compound a lot (We'd just got married anyway) except for organised trips. I think if we'd had to cope with the stress of being harassed all the time it would have ruined our honeymoon. I didn't like Dunns River Falls very much as there were so many people clambering over it. I caught an ear infection from the water, which didn't help. God, I must sound like a right whinge - I actually enjoyed my holiday and liked Jamaica, it just didn't feel safe enough.
