A wonderful cultural city. (Kandy)

I visited Kandy in March 2001, and I have to say it is a wonderful place with so much to see and do.

Most people visit Kandy for the Temple of the Tooth - a large buddhist temple which allegedly hold the tooth of Buddha himself.

But there is more to this city - it has a large beautiful lake, shops, colonnial architecture, amazing views, botannical gardens, friendly people ... and more.

I visited a s part of a day trip, and if I ever go back I want to stay in Kandy for at least 2 days to be able to see it all.

It is a bit of a trek from most of the holiday resorts on the west coast of Sri Lanka but it is well worth a visit to experience true Sri Lanka.
