Kassiopi ... facility, there are banks with cash machines, doctors and pharmacies, internet cafes and supermarkets, a school and a church (where sightseers are most unwelcome), travel agents and a police station. Amongst the numerous waterfront restaurants and bars, the Harbour Bar, at which parents are really unwelcome, is at the heart of the English public school teenagers' lives and loves.

Having been to several Greek Islands in the past, this was only my second holiday to the Island of Corfu. I had stayed in Kassiopi for a week 3 years ago and fell in love with Corfiot life, promising myself I would one day go to Paleokastritsa, a beautiful part of Corfu. Sure enough, I booked for a visit last year with my wife and two year old son. The Manos brochure, from which I booked it from, failed to tell us that the Olive Grove apartments, (where our home was to be for the next fortnight), was situated half a mile up a vertical dirt path that zig-zagged through olive trees. I visited the little Island of Corfu in September 1998 and was left with mixed feelings. I have visited several Greek Islands and This ranks lowest on my list. I stayed in the resort village of Kassiopi which is about an hour on a coach from the Airport at Corfu Town. Its a coastal fishing village by trade and sits near the north East Tip of the Island. You can see Albania just across the water only 6 miles away. To the North Coast are the quiet beach resorts of Sidari and Roda.
