Advantages: Hot Hot Hot, Lovely Locals, Lots to do
Disadvantages: A little pricey, rain storms end season, bad beaches
After reading all the reviews on this site about Kavos, I was a little apprehensive about goign , but on the 29th of August this year my friend and I took off to Kavos for two weeks. On first impressions it did seem a little more Blackpool than Greek Island, however on settling in our opinion soon changed. We stayed at the Morfeas Hotel, the service and the staff here were amazing, they made us feel at home as soon as we got there, I suppose the 24hour bar at the Hotel also helped. We arrived in the middle of a heat wave with temps up to 104 degrees. Although the beaches aren't Ideal in Kavos most hotel pools are open to everybody and these are generally large and clean, again I reccommend the Morfeas. And yes Kavos did smell slightly due to the drains but this wasn't very often and always very brief. The prices in Kavos for drinks are generally the same as the UK, but there are a few choice bars such as Stoned and Tango were the prices are very reasonable. We found many places were a three cousre evening meal would cost you no more than 8.5 euros just under £6, and the food was always amazing. There is plently to do during the days, all the small shops in Kavos are open but wont entertain you for long, you can get a bus to Corfu town which is only 6 euros there and back, around £4, we also went on a trip to Greece mainland, and the Blue lagoon which was only around £10, if you do book trips don't do it through your rep as you can get better deals in the shops in kavos. We had a great time in Kavos and would reccomend it to anyone between 18 and thirty, just take lots of money as drinks can get pricey in the clubs, oh and take mosquito repellent, they're every where and will bite any spare inch of flesh!
