Khumba Mela Festival ... spectacle, Khumba Mela is the time when the sages, masters, yogis, saints and sadhus come down from their sacred abodes in the Himalayas. It is the largest gathering in the world of people with a religious purpose, sharing knowledge and information about religion and other spiritual practices. A holy dip in the Kumbh purifies the sins thereby helping in the attainment of salvation. It is believed that at the time of Kumbh, the water of the river gets charged with astonishing healing effects by enhanced electromagnetic radiation of the Sun, Moon and the Jupiter, the flux of which also varies in accordance to positions and the phases of the moon.

The Kumbh Mela is the largest festival in the Hindu calendar, held once every 12 years in the north Indian city of Allahabad. This ancient festival pays homage to a battle between the gods and demons for a pitcher (kumbh). Legend has it that four drops of nectar fell from the pitcher and landed in Allahabad (Prayag), Hardwar, Ujjain and Nasik. A smaller Kumbh Mela is rotated through the other holy cities every three years. The 2001 Kumbh Mela ran from January 9th to February 21st. Today everybody is so busy in their life that we real tend to forget what mother nature has in store for us .India may be not a very modernized country but its natural wealth (not the minerals and all) is a must to see.
