If you travel Thailand you will more than likely end up visiting the Islands in southern Thailand, one of which is Ko Pha Ngan. At the beginning of a year I went travelling for five months, three of which were spent in South East Asia. Even before we had left the UK we had heard of, and wanted to visit Ko Pha Ngan to experience one of the famous full or half moon parties. The dates of these parties are easy to find on the internet, the website we used is: http://www.fullmoon.phangan.info/ Beware, if you are going to Ko Phan Ngan for the full moon parties you should book the accommodation in advance or arrive at the island atleast a few days before, or you may ... Ko Phan Ngan (sometimes written Ko Phangan, Koh Phan Ngan or Koh Phangan) is an island in the Surat Thani Provence of Thailand. Getting there from Bangkok can be easy or slightly Adventurous if you like; Easy Route: Regular flights to neighbouring island Samui from Bangkok take about an hour, and it's only a short boat trip from Samui to Phangan and you're there. Adventurous Route: You can get a train from bangkok all the way down the peninsula to the Surat Thani station, and from there get a bus to the pier, where ferries run to Samui, Koh tao, and Phangan, you will most probably have to get two ferries, one to Samui and another to ... If you a planning a trip to Ko Panghan you probably have a good idea what goes on here. The full moon party held here once a month has grown from a monthly gathering of like minded travellers that like to party to the biggest rave in south east asia attracting thousands each month. You will find some snobby seasoned travellers that will tell you that it is not half as good as it used to be and commercialism has taken over. I don't have any past experience to compare it too, but what I do know is that I had the time of my life. Due to work commitments I only went to Thailand for 2 weeks, spending 5 days in total on the island. I went out to meet a group of ... Read the complete review

When I first got to Koh Phan gan I arrived by speed boat from Ko Samui on to the Had Rin beach. It was packed with people and the only place I could find to stay was a cubicle in a concrete block that was still being built. Luckily I asked around and found that other beaches nearby also have accomodation for visitors. So I took a taxi boat to Had Tien which is two bays down. There were about five 'resorts' there all with their own huts and restaurants and staff who were actualy pleased to see me. Being on a rather tight budget I opted for a place in the dormitory at The Sanctuary at 60 baht rather than pay 150 baht for a hut. Unfortunately I spent the difference ... Read the complete review

Ko Pha-Ngan is one of the 3 islands that makes up the Ko Samui Archipelago and is home to over 10,000 people. This population is, however, enhanced almost year round by budget travellers. The fact that there is no airport means that mass tourism has not fully arrived and there is a distinct lack of top end hotels. With a youthful clientele this means that the islands main centres are throbbing with life 24 hours a day. Ko Pha-Ngan lies in the gulf of Thailand and means lots of different things to a lot of different people. The most common perception of Ko Pha-Ngan is that of the infamous party destination and to a large extent a visit there will ... Read the complete review
