Kuantan on the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia is an idyllic,interesting,riverine and coastal town which makes an ideal base for exploring the unspoilt east coast. It is the gateway to long stretches of sandy beaches at resorts such as Cherating -where there is a Club Med outlet-Balok-well known for board sailing-Sg.Karang,Teluk Cempedak and Chendor.There are good resort hotels at Cherating and Teluk Cempedak and chalets at Cherating and Chendor. The town itself is worth exploring. There is a 18 hole golf course,good shopping facilities,excellent restaurants and hawker stalls,and a few pubs and night clubs in town. ...
