Advantages: Weather, Tradition, Coast

Disadvantages: Typical holiday resort conventions but like me you might not mind that.

I've been to Turkey with my family three times previous to this visit to Kusadasi. Once to Chesme, once to Marmaris and Kusadasi again. I do not remember too much because I was very young but now I am eighteen I remember quite a lot about my final holiday with my parents. Kusadasi is situated on the South West coast of Turkey and is about an hour away from the nearest airport, although we travelled from a further airport two hours away in Bodrum. When we set foot off the plane after our three to four hour flight, for once we didn't notice the blaze of heat because it was 2am in Turkish time, two hours ahead of GMT. We stayed in a very nice five star hotel called the Sealight Hotel which is a bit out of the centre of Kusadasi but a short ride on the Dalmusch.

The Dalmusch is Turkey's public transport system and I for one think it is fantastic but it would not suit Britain. The drivers can be a bit mad and pick up someone anywhere along the route and the buses aren't that big. You can pay by the Turkish Lira, the Euro and sometimes even the Sterling. They are very regular and often have a kid screaming 'Central' out the window. They get you into the town centre quickly which is a typical holiday resort mixed with Turkish tradition. You have your Turkish Delight shops which is great because I adore Turkish Delight and you have plenty of shops selling fake but very good copies of designer brands for hand bags, belts and anything else that is leather. My Mum had a field day shopping for hand bags whilst we and my Dad did the old stand in the door way thing, my Dad grasping his wallet tightly. The Turkish shop workers are desperate for a sale and really do hassle you in and it is very difficult to leave without buying something. This is something very Turkish and their tradition, but I would loathe this back home. Also in Kusadasi is the 'Ladies Beach'. When I first heard the name of this beach my first thought was obvious. My second was that is probably attracts more males than females. It is a very popular beach which looks beautiful in the night with plenty of fancy restaurants, bars and shops along the sea front.

As with all holiday resorts they have their typical conventions. Kusadasi is an area with a lot of Irish people and I did see a fellow wearing a Sunderland shirt as well, but refrained from shouting some obscene language. There are also plenty of Brits with a handful of people from other European nations. This means that there are plenty of bars that show Sky Sports. I see more of them on holiday than in my local town.

The weather was hot throughout with blue skies on the first three days with a bit of cloud but still hot and sunny on the final few. Turkey has a few tourist attractions such as the famous Ephesus. The Turkish people I spoke to, not the shop workers, were very nice and welcoming which is unsurprising as they rely on the tourism industry in Kusadasi and other resorts.

I really enjoyed my time in Kusadasi and would recommend it for all ages. There are good parts for families, good parts for young people and good parts for older couples so the resort has good balance.

Summary: A nice holiday destination and well worth going once.
