Advantages: a famous city for its thermal centers, the world famous Yagolbedir Carpets, and Kütahya tiles , You will be amazed by the important Ottoman architectural monuments, including a castle, mosques, medreses, baths, complexes, mausoleums, and mansions.

Disadvantages: It is an underadvertised lcity

Kutahya, which is locted in western Anatolia has been a thermal center for numerous civilizations for more than 5,000 years. It is a charming little town located in a mountainous area. The city of Kutahya is also known for the beauty of its ceramics and tiles. Kutahya is a very old city In this city There are many old Turkish traditions still being practiced today.

I was born in Kutahya and lived there for 6 years till we moved to Ankara in 1983. I always loved this small but lovely city of my childhood. I can say its climate is rather cool but pleasant.

You will be amazed by the important Ottoman architectural monuments, including a castle, mosques, medreses, baths, complexes, mausoleums, and mansions. When you go up to the casle You will see a wonderful, panoramic view of the old town on the western side of the city.

Kutahya is the hometown of the world famous Yagolbedir Carpets, and Kütahya tiles which you can see everywhere in the country. But if you want to find the best and the cheapest, you should go to Kütahya. You will love the tiles. They are so famous in Turkey and abroad. If you visit his nice city someday, You should visit the workshops and see these tiles produced with designs from the 16th- and 17th-centuries. They are especially famous for their cobalt blue on a milky white background.

Moreover, the old wood and stucco houses of Kütahya are picturesque. The Hungarian House (Kossouth Museum) and those on the Germian Street are the most interesting ones. Also , we had very nice wood houses in the neighbourhood in which we used to live. It is hard to forget those days.

Kutahya is a famous city for its thermal centers . It is the only city in the country having 6 in the same area. Moreover, Kütahya is a thermal springs center with Harlek-lilca, Muratdagi-Gediz and Eynal-Simav, among the most famous. The thermal center at Yoncali has been in use since A.D. 762. When I was a child, we had a motel
in ILICA. It was a very lovely one by the river. When I last visited ILICa, I saw it again. IlICA is on of the loveliest places in the area. I hope you can see it oneday.
Tmperature of taters of ILICA from 25 to 43 C. I used to enjoy the water in the Turkish baths.

The waters of Ilica Harlek contain magnesium, calcium and bicarbonate. The waters are useful to people who suffer suffering from rheumatism, dermatological problems, neurological disorders, gynecological problems and this kind of stuff.

There are camping facilities including hot springs in the midst of delightful scenery at Murat Mountain. In southwest of Kütahya, there is an ancient city awaiting you for an eccentric archaeological excursion, Cavdarhisar (Aizanoi) has one of the best preserved Roman temples in Anatolia; the Temple of Jupiter. Dating back to the time of Hadrian, it was built for the worship of Zeus and also the Anatolian fertility goddess Kybele. A Byzantine fortress, the Seljuk Hidirilk Mosque and Balikil Bath and the Ottoman Bedesten, Saadettin Mosque, Sengui Bath are just some of the important historical remains in Kütahya.

Above the town is an old castle ruin, which originally has got 72 towers dating from Byzantine times. There's also a lovely old mosque (Ulu Cami). Ulu Cami(mosque) has also a lot of Kutahya tiles.

You should see the streets round the bazaar and visit the small shops. You can easily have an small conversation easily while you're drinking your glass of tean.
The main streets of the town are lovely. In the town centre, you will see the fountain, which consists of a vase pointing to the ceramics for which the town is well known. This is a lovely fountain which the tourists are interested in most. It is not a touristic city but there are tourist groups who come to visit the porcelain and ceramic industry. The prices for ceramics in Kutahya are unbelievable low, compared to Istanbul or other tour
ist areas

Also , in the city, you will find the minibuses going from Kutahya go to the Roman temple complex of Aizanoi.

I also suggest two hotels you may like to stay.

Hotels,

Erbaylar Hotel *** Phone, 274 223 6960,

Tahya Hotel *** Phone, 274 224 3070,

To conclude, I suggest you to visit this lovely city of Turkey.
