Lake Bled is a lakeside resort in the mountains of Slovenia. Its is an incredibly beautiful location. The hotels are well appointed and I can recommend The Hotels Park and Kompas for both comfort and service. There are plenty of restaurants serving Alpine, Italian and local dishes. The Ocarina and Mlino are especially good, though most are of a high standard. There is a fairytale cliff-top castle, plenty of walks for hikers through spectacular areas - the locals will offer plenty of advice on the best places to visit. Recommended tours to Postonja Caves. Also visit Lake Bohinj for another great lake.We have also stayed in local accomodation, the Pension Diane where we were treated to wonderful hospitality. Using a few words of the Slovenian language helps, as does a smattering of German, though almost every waiter appears to speak English. Recommended for anyone who enjoys peace and nature or for a romantic break for 2.
