Advantages: LOADS TO SEE AND DO, cheaper than bigger tourist spots
Disadvantages: none
I absolutley loved every minute i spent in Taupo! it has so much to do and see i just couldnt get enough of the little place!
Ofcourse there is the huge lake, this is beautiful....the best view of it can be captured 15 thousand feet up in the air sky diving! Taupo is one of the cheapest places for people who like danger, for sky diving and bungy jumping!
A must see is Huka falls, this is an easy drive or jump on the bright orange small mini-buses for $5 return. Huka falls is a massive waterfall which is mouth dropping! there are also some great trials around the falls for walkers. It is possible to walk from the town centre all the way to the falls, which is a beautiful walk!
There is also a big geothermal park with lots of smelling pools and boiling mud pools. this is dirt cheap to get into and you walk around on a wooden walk way, meaning no barries, so keep a tight hold og the kids! a great day out and i spent a few hours exploring the park (the orange mini bus also goes here)
There are some other places to visit including a honey factory and other sights to see, you could spend many days here enjoying the sights and sounds of Taupo!
Summary: great town and a hidden gem in NZ
