Langkawi Island

I spent 6 nights in Langkawi in September 2009 and have also visited teh Malaysian islands of Tioman and Redang. Langkawi is an island belonging to Malaysia also known as the Jewel of Keddah and is geographically just south of Thailand. Langkawi is an island situated off the coast of western Malaysia, not far below the border with Thailand. It is home to people from many cultural backgrounds, all of whom are friendly and charming and cannot do enough to help. Our two week holiday in early May 2004 began with a direct flight to Langkawi with Malaysia Airlines from London Heathrow. If you enjoy long haul tropical holidays it really might be worth saving hard for this one. The Datai Hotel, Langkawi, Malaysia. Details available on the internet through any good search engine.The weather in our winter is hot but beware that you may catch heavy rains up until December. Luxury is the Datai's middle name. I recently went to Langkawi through an extra stop-over with my plane ticket. My mates recommended it to me, and boy were they right! The downpoint was that I was there on my own, but I made friends easily! I stayed in the main town on the island in the Langkawi Sea view hotel 3*, which was cracking, they gave me a free upgrade to the Delux room, which was kick-ass. The hotel staff helped me so much, sorting out what to do and where to go and all for £13 a night. So what's there to do??
