Advantages: amazing,

Disadvantages: expensive

I arrived at Las Vegas Airport about 11:00pm took a Limousine to my hotel, which was the Holiday Inn. I went with a tried and true hotel. They have never disappointed me wherever I've had to stay at through the United Kingdom. I just needed a place to rest my head. Well after the driver dropped everyone else off up and down the strip at various hotels, I arrived at my destination for the night. I got settled in. I was extremely tired from the plane ride. I am one of these early birds anyway. I figured I had seen enough for one night, and I knew that the next day I would see the hotels and casinos with my daughter.

I went down to the casino in the lobby and proceeded to play a few of the slots. I am not much of a gambler, and we are on a tight budget. So I had my change and allotted money to spend. I then went to the restaurant in the hotel that was serving buffet. I think I spent $5.00 for steak and all I could eat everything. Wow! I was in disbelief over all the food. All I could do was eat and try to hold my eyelids open to catch all the excitement everywhere. I was by myself, and wasn't sure about stepping out on the streets to go to another casino at night, so I went to the gift shop bought a few post cards to write the kids and my husband. Went to my room and went to sleep.

I woke up about 7 am. The first thing I noticed was my curtain was opened just about 4 inches, and the view I saw from the 14th floor of my bed was absolutely AMAZING! I got up and opened the curtains and saw the mountains at a distance with the dessert before hand. It was a little hazy, but clear day. Then I looked down to see the strip below. I couldn't wait to get started "site seeing". I called to set up the time for me to get my daughter, then off we went. We started to the right of the Holiday Inn, and we went in EVERY casino and hotel from that point on. We went up one side then down the other.

To pick a favourite, I just couldn&
#39;t do it. There are so many. If you get the opportunity to visit Las Vegas and you have children, then I would suggest these sites: The Excalibur, MGM, Treasure Island, New York, New York, and then Circus Circus. My daughter also enjoyed the Mirage too. These all have something that children can enjoy as well as the adults. I never made it to Circus Circus, because by the time we got to Treasure Island, my body was too tired to move another inch. We just collapsed in the lobby of Treasure Island waiting for our ride to the Airport to come home.

THE EXCALIBUR: This hotel has the theme of Merlin and the medieval times with princess and kings, and wonderful fantasy. We spent a little time walking through and enjoying the shops, and the food court for a little while. While we were resting our feet, we started to hear trumpets going off. Then we saw "Merlin" and his court go around the food area. We were in the hall going out when this started, so off we go back in the food area hoping to get a look at this parade. We saw it, and it was one of the highlights of our time together. We then proceeded to walk and look some more.

MGM: We walked into the upper level of this Hotel. I saw the stage first, then as we were walking down the stairs, there were the lions. They were playing ball with the trainers. We watched this for a bit, then went to the gift shop there. As we were walking around and looking there was a glass and there were the baby lion cubs, sleeping, playing, and eating. This was a treat that my daughter and I both enjoyed. That was about all that we really took in at MGM. This place I wouldn't mind coming back to with just my husband though just to catch some of the shows.

NEW YORK, NEW YORK: Wow! What a place! I have never been to New York, and after seeing this hotel, I almost I want to go now. We walked in and were just checking the place out. We caught a magic show in one of the shops. There is the Roller Coaster
that goes through the hotel and around the outside. It was awesome. I would have loved to try it out, but my daughter doesn't like Roller Coasters, so we went into the games and arcade area instead. There we played a little, then went on to another hotel. On the outside it looks like New York also when you look at the front. There is the smaller version of the Statue of Liberty with tugboats squirting water around the base of it.

THE MIRAGE: This was a little quieter than the other hotels. We started in, and I can't remember the hotel just before it with the dancing fountains. We watched them for a little bit, then went on the moving sidewalk to get to the Mirage. (Anything at this point to keep from walking!) We first see the white tiger from the Sigfield (sorry can't spell) and Roy show. This was great, except I felt sorry for the tiger in the completely cement room. He even had a raw spot on his front leg, from lying on the cement. This was awful, and they were profiting from this animal's circumstances. We moved right along inside to see the other animals, and the aquarium. It was a bit crowded and we were running out of time, to catch the show at Treasure Island.

TREASURE ISLAND: I had heard about this Pirate show in front of the hotel, from my husband's visit the year before and our daughter's previous trips. This is a MUST see attraction. We were on the sidewalk just to the right of the bridge, but right there over the water on the edge so we could see everything. The pirates put on a great show! We were there just as it was getting dark. The sunset with all the action was unforgettable. I would love for all the kids to get to see this one-day.

CIRCUS CIRCUS: This is one hotel I didn't get to see. It is located a little further down the strip past Treasure Island, and we just couldn't make it that far. I've been told that its theme is based on a Circus, with rides and attractions. You buy a wr
istband and that allows you to ride the rides.

As for prices for all of this, my daughter and I spent less than $100, and had great all you can eat meals. I had steak the first night, and lobster for dinner the second. If you are planning a trip to Las Vegas, just check the Internet to find all sorts of deals and prices. They have it all listed, from attraction times, to what is served and buffets in what hotels. I would love to go back at least two more times. One with the whole family, and then another with just my husband and myself. This trip was very enjoyable, under different circumstances; I would have enjoyed it much more. As well as not having to rush through everything. This is the "Town that never Sleeps".
