Advantages: Plenty to see and do
Disadvantages: besides gambling
OK - so those who haven't been to Las Vegas probably think all there is to do is gamble - wrong! it isn't known as the entertainment capital of the world for nothing. Go to see all the sights - the hotels are spectacles in themselves. I know some people think it is all too tacky but i didn't think so - i thought they were amazing - there's nowhere else like it on Earth (except the other bits of Earth that the hotels are trying to emulate!) Go there to see a show - as well as the numerous free entertainment (Fremont Street, Treasure Island Battle, Volcano, etc) there are some great shows on in LV. Virtually every major hotel/casino has it's own show running - and they are equal to anything on Broadway or London's West End. I particularly enjoyed Siegfried and Roy - one of the most expensive shows there but well worth it in my opinion. (see separate review later). Go there for the other entertainment - there are some IMAX screens around (Caesar's Palace and Luxor) which show great films - for the kids (or young at heart like me) there are the rides - the 3D IMAX one - Race for Atlantis (@ CP) is great. Go to the top of the Stratosphere hotel at sunrise, sunset or during the night for excellent views all over the city! Go for the food - some great restaurants and deals all round. Some people even go there to get married (can't vouch for that myself though!) If all this doesn't appeal - there's always the gambling!!!

- 19/06/01 I absolutely LOVE Vegas. We had such a great time there in April 2001. That Race to Atlantis ride is even better than Back to the Future at Universal Studios. |

- 09/06/01 we might see Siegfried and Roy in October, but I think it's about $70 each, is that correct? My hubbie also wants to do the Grand Canyon in an helicopter but I've heard that is £200 each, i will need to win the jackpot I think. |
