Spectacular place, Tacky though (Las Vegas)

I went to Las Vegas last year as part of a west coast tour. Without a doubt it is amazing, some of the Casinos are spectacular - try to stay in one if you can, the rates are usually very reasonable (as they want you in to Gamble).

I did not go for the gambling - it is not my thing, but fortunately there is plenty to do besides. Simply visiting the casinos is entertainment in itself - well worth checking out are the Venitian and Caesar's palace - no doubt the recently opened Paris and Alladin will be well worth a look too.

The casinos tend to put on free entertainment to lure you in, including some incredible outdoor shows which if you can beat the crowds are fantastic.

Despite all the amazing attractions, when I walked through the gaming halls to get to them I couldn't help but find the rows and rows of slot machines a little tacky - but don't let that put you off, it is after all why Las Vegas is there - its just I won't be wasting my money on funding it!

Las Vegas is well worth a visit, but it would be a shame to miss out on some of the nearby attractions - Red Rock Canyon is a beautiful area about 30 minutes drive from Vegas, and you are only a few hours from the spectacular Grand Canyon.
