Newest Review: ... Jackson’s home but I must say that we didn’t actually visit. Lexington is home to the Virginia Military Institute. In the evening we went for a walk around the town and came across many of the college trainees dressed all in white. They were all very polite and bowed to me!! This really was a most odd experience and at times I felt like an extra in an American 50’s movie. ... more

 ... The town is of course set against some beautiful scenery and there’s plenty for the outdoor enthusiasts. We stayed on the outskirts of the town in a place called Maple Hall. This is actually on the national historic register of Virginia ....more

Where I hear you ask! Lexington is actually a quaint historic college town at the bottom end of the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia. To me Lexington typified small town America. From my experience every town in America seems to have a claim to fame for one thing or another. Lexington is no different, as Thomas “Stonewall” Jackson and Robert E Lee (both of the Civil War fame) made Lexington their home and are also both buried here. The visitor center adjoins Stonewall Jackson’s home but I must say that we didn’t actually visit. Lexington is home to the Virginia Military Institute.
