... It's a good place to visit but I'd reccomend staying up the river in Maastricht or Aachen if you want to visit Liege. ...more

Travelling to Leige along the river Maas and through the lock onto the Albert canal to Leige is an adventure enough in itself, but once you hit Liege on a market day in the summer you are overwhelmed by the continental market atmoshpere. It can take a good long day to look at all the wonderfully fruitful stalls with products of every description, but the town centre has a variety of shops and cafes which are worth a visit and has its own continental atmosphere independent from the market.
