Lower Manhattan

Lower Manhattan is the area containing the financial district of the city. If you get down to Wall St early enough, you can book into a tour of the stock exchange for later in the day. You *have* to be there early though because the tours book up *fast*. The Financial Center also has a mall, which is usually quiet and which, if you walk through it, leads you to the Winter Gardens - a beautiful consevatory-like area where there are some HUGE palm trees and some more shops and eateries. Lower manhattan is one of the best places in the world the best place is wall street where they do all worlds financing. Right on wall street the heart is the New York Stock Exchange trading more than 200 million shares each day for more than 2000 companies. On the tuesday 29 of october in 1929 the great crash happened, over 16 million shares changed hands as the stock market crashed.
