Manila is not a great place to visit, I always recommend tourists to get in and get out as quickly as possible. It only becomes comfortable over time, the first few times I visited for a few days, I always seemed to get a cold from the smog. The traffic is as bad as anywhere I have been, going further than a few miles in rush hour is not advisable. There is a lot of poverty in the city, and it isn't a pretty sight for those not used to it. MANILA, a city full of contrasts, from the rich beautiful buildings of its colonial past to the present day corrugated roofed patched wooden dwellings. Where child beggars turn up their dirty palms to shiny black Mercedes benz cars waiting at the traffic lights.Where it takes six months to get a phone line but one day to make a best friend.
