Advantages: prices are rock bottom

Disadvantages: not the place if you want a secluded holiday

I visited Marmaris back in 2005 nd it was my first time in turkey but i am itching to get back!

We were a party of 4 adults ad we spent 2 weeks in the villa sol appartments in marmaris, we flew with monarch airlines from gatwick. The tranfer time from the airport into marmaris was 3 hours and driving into marmaris down a mountain side you see how large the resort was and what an amazing setting it had.

Marmaris is on the coast with mountains surrounding it, looking out to see you can not actually see open water as the mountains over lap giving the impression of a lagoon and the setting is just breath taking.

The aprtment we stayed in was quite basic but clean and comfortable, but the staff were so welcoming and so attentive. They made us feel so comfortable and i cant stress how kind nd friendly they were to the point where at the end of our 2 weeks we felt like we were leaving old friend and were quite gutted at saying good buy.

Marmaris offers everything you could want , it has a massive! market of over 1000 shops selling everything imaginable at ridiculously cheap preices. Fake goods are everywhere and leather goods are in every other shop and the prices are amazing ad the quality is second to none. But you will get haggled in the streat constantly! its not in an agressive way and they happily take no for an answer but it can get a little tirsome as we are not used to it in this country.

There are watersports on offer and horse riding i the hills as well as quad biking but one thing you have to try is a turkish massage it is amazing and a must have experience.

The food and drink are of good quality and you will not believe the service you receive it puts restaurants here to shame and the prices are tiny. but be warned any imported drinks wil cost you a lot more but drink the local drinks and it will not cost a lot e.g effes the local larger £1 a pint.

Everything in turkey is much cheaper than over here and the locals are genuinly happy that you are there as they 100% rely on the tourist trade in these areas and you will live like a king over there for a budget of a porper!

Marmaris also has a very lively night life with many clubs and 1000's of bars so you will not get borred.

Summary: I loved it and would even consider living there.
