My first time in Turkey - me and wife with 3 kids. Self catering Aida apartments were great, clean, only opened in Spring 2008. Marmaris is a mixed bag: the beach is goping and frequented by hundreds of ferral cats - and we all know what cats do in sand! Shop keepers and cafe staff hassling you to buy cheap tat and the odd one getting stroppy when you refuse. Endless shops full of fake gear is just boring. Pavements are a hit and miss affair to use if you have a buggy/pram due to their terrible state in places. Good bits are the weather (obviously), people mostly very friendly, bargains if can be bothered to haggle, natural scenery, the sea outside the immediate resourt is beautiful and the boat trip on the 'Orca' which we got for £44 from a local agent instead of £87.50 from Tompson.

Myself, my husband and 2 kids aged 11 and 6 arrived back 3 days ago from an amazing holiday in Marmaris . There is so much to say that I don't know where to start!
