Advantages: useful tourist information, british embassy, internet access, most shops/banks

Disadvantages: dusty, smelly, busy, ugly

Lesotho's capital Maseru isn't that bad.... as long as you're not staying here.
It is the main border control point into Lesotho meaning most travellers pass through it, but only so they can get out and see the rest of this amazingly beautiful country. Maseru's dusty, smelly surroundings don't make for a good first impression of Lesotho. The place is like a really bad attempt at being cosmopolitan, and failing.
The best you can do, is go straight to the tourist information in Kingsway, and then get out.
Seriously though, the people at the tourist information were the most helpful I have ever met. They set us up with accomodation, maps and even a route for the rest of our stay. They couldn't have done more...
Maseru may be Lesotho's urban centre but who wants to stay in a smoggy city, when you can get out into the most rural, peaceful, beautiful place I can say, I've had the priviledge to visit.
