Significance:
Location of the most sacred place in Islam- The Kabah.

History:
Ancient- The prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) was divinely instructed to leave his son Ismail and wife hajar there. Lateron as his son grew up He constructed the Kabah, A place of worship for Allah, the One God (The creator, sustainer, controller, He is not comparable to his creation).

Just over 1400 years ago- A decendent of Ismail named Muhammad was apointed with prophethood & messengership. Through him the Quran (the word of Allah) was revealed.

The Hajj - The pilgramige: This is the 5th pillar f Islam, it originates in the time of Ibrahim, it involves muslims from allover the world congregating at Makkah

Common misconceptions:
Muslims worship the kabah - rahter it is only a location of worship.
Muslims belive God lives in the kabah - They belive it is His house as in His property, Muslims Belive Allah is above His creation above the heavens.
