I have not had good experiences on my trips to Minneapolis, or the year I lived there. Obviously it is very cold most of the time. But my complaints with Minneapolis have more to do with the behavior of the people than the type of climate. First of all, I do not find this to be a friendly city. Words I would use to describe it include, snobby, self-absorbed, self-consciously trendy, phony, conformist. Seemingly everyone between the ages of 18-35 has the prerequisite odd piercings and evident tattoo(s). Situated in Bloomfield, just south of the twin cities, Minneapolis and St. Paul is the 'Mall of America', at one point the world's largest shopping mall. Whether it still possesses this title, I'm not sure - but it is BIG. Getting to the mall is not difficult - there are a host of bus routes that run from downtown Minneapolis to the mall. Geting around the place is a little more strenuous - set on four levels, the mall boasts of over five hundred stores - including a Macy's, and several other large department stores.
