Ok so Missouri is not on the top of everyone’s list of places to visit, it’s slap bang in the middle of the USA with no huge theme parks, beaches or sky-scraping cities, however it does have many redeeming features and a charm all of its own. If you want to see how true Americans live and where they go for vacation, Missouri is the place for you. Where is it? Missouri, nicknamed the ‘Show Me’ state, is pretty much right in the middle of mainland USA (I always find it funny how some of my family there have never seen the sea!). I lived in Missouri for a year and got to see much of it. It is truly an absolutely beautiful state, away from the blatant tourism of more popular states like california and florida. There are many things to do and see, including natural phenomenons like Elephant Rocks and sites from the Civil War, etc. In St. Louis itself there are many free attractions in Forest Park, including an Art Museum, History Museum, Zoo, and other things. Further South is Branson, which is the place to go if you like country music, it is renowned for it's shows [the Promise is a must-see!].
