MonacoNewest Review: ... You will find coins and notes from most EU countries in circulation along side Monaco's own coins. Under yet another treaty forced upon this tiny country by its powerful neighbour France, Monaco is required to keep its purchase tax's broadly similar to those in France and the income tax position is not as attractive for french citizens as it is for most others. Therefore you will not ... more |

The best way to arrive at Monaco is on a friends luxury yacht, if you do not already have the required contacts you can try hanging around the marinas along the coast or a more reliable way to get there is by air from the UK to Nice ( Cote D'Azur ) airport then it is but a short road or rail journey. There are many low cost airlines flying into Nice I always favoured Go but that has now been swallowed by its bigger competitor and I have not made the journey since and can therefore offer no recommendations. You will find return flights from £16 to £300 depending on the airline, the time of year and the current demand. Whether you choose to travel onwards by ... Read the complete review

A great place for a 3 night break. We flew into Nice airport with Go, arriving at 8.45pm. By 9.30 we were in our hotel enjoying a glass of wine around the pool on a balmy summer's evening. Idyllic. Flights to Nice are numerous from STN, LHR, LGW etc - plenty of chip airlines too (Easyjet, Go). Accommodation in Monaco can be expensive - we booked accommodation only via Cresta Holidays (min 2 nights) and got about 50% off rack rate of the Le Meridian Beach Plaza Hotel (5* and excellent). Hotel has private beach (unique) and 2 outdoor pools, 1 indoor pool. 3 restauarants with great buffet breakfast. Eating out is also pricey - budget ... Read the complete review

When you are in the South of France visiting the Resorts of St Tropez, Frejus and Cannes, you must make the effort to visit the small Prinipality of Monaco. Monaco is a self contained state with only a handful of full time residents. These residents are mainly millionaire playboy types who enjoy basking in the sunshine and spending lots of money. This is the Monaco that we have all heard about and to be honest, it is pretty much near the truth. The 30,000 people who do live there, live under the watchful eye of Prince Rainier's magnificent palace on the hillside. Basically, the whole state is built into a large protected harbour and access ... Read the complete review

Whilst on holiday in the south of France, I visited Monaco on a day trip. Arriving by train, the first place to impress in Monaco was the ultra modern under ground train station. Leaving the train station, the stunning harbour is just around the corner. Formula one fans will love it, just thinking of the cars flying around the corners, is enough to capture your imagination. To witness a race there would be amazing! There are playboys in their yauchts in the harbour, and the beutiful people wander by the outdoor cafes. Very Nice. Don't stay there too long however unless you have deep pockets! Everything is very ... Read the complete review

I visited Monaco / Monte Carlo on a day trip from Nice over Christmas. Admittedly my experience is somewhat limited but my main recommendation would be to definately visit it for a day trip but not to bother staying any longer. Planning regulations don't seem to exist there and as a result Monaco is dominated by some terrible high rise buildings. The display of wealth is astounding and nauseating after a while but worth the experience. Things I'd recommend to do: 1. Take a lift. Monaco / Monte have lifts that take you from one level up or down. It's not that you can't walk...but you get the feeling that's a bit of a rarity ... Read the complete review
