Monastir

There are only two reviews on here so far for Monastir (Skanes) and they are both saying how bad it is so I thought I should even things up a bit ! We've just got back from a week in Monastir and we loved it ! Our only regret was not staying for two weeks instead of one but all good things must come to an end !! We decided to go for a last minute deal and - having two daughters aged 7 and 3 and therefore needing a family room and a holiday on a budget - we were somewhat limited as to where we could go. I just returned from a week in Skanes,the beach resort near Monastir.Monastir-for those who don't know-is a city on the west coast of Tunisia.It is very close to Sousse,the third biggest Tunisian city. Skanes is not the best choice for holidays.It is a resort full of hotels,in the middle of nowhere.The only thing that is close is the Monastir airport!!! All of the hotels there are quite similar,completely turistic.Skanes is a 2 hours' drive away from the capital,Tunis,and I can say that if i didn't choose to go for a one-day excursion to Tunis,I would't have realized that I was in Tunisia.Everything in Skanes was so touristic!!!
