Mumbai ( Bombay )

Mumbai derives its name from Mumba Devi a local diety worshipped by the Maratha fisher folk of the region. Mumba Devi is the goddess of sea and according to folklores she blessed the region and took care of the Fisherman community. When India was under the British rule the name Mumbai got slightly changed , as they were unable to pronounce the name , and was called Bombay for all official purposes. But the locals continued to refer to it as Mumbai. And after nearly 45 years after India gained its Independence , in the nineties , the city was officially called by its original name. I am writing this review on the cause of Mumbai terrorist attacks that is being carried out right at this time. It may not match the review name which is 'Mumbai' but it is more to do with the recent attack on the city. Mumbai is the financial capital of India, one of the most busy cities and strategically important to trade via its harbour ports. My parents never really enjoyed staying in Mumbai, it was too loud and over-crowded for them. However I loved every second of being there. There was always so much going on that you never seem to get bored. And if you ever felt you needed a change of environment, you could easily jump into the many taxi's roaming about and ask the driver to whisk you away to another location. I used to think Bangkok was the most diverse city I had lived in. Then I visited Mumbai. I came. I saw. I fell in love.
