Myrtle BeachNewest Review: ... nice to stay out of the way go to Pawleys Island about 20 miles south of Myrtle Beach. It is a small shabby island with a handfull of really great resturants and you are very close to all of the attractions of Myrtle Beach. I grew up on this island and it is quiet. You will need a rental car however, the cabs around here are sparse and dont very reliable. Satan Sanchez, a friend of mine ... more |

Mrytle Beach, The RedNeck Riviera! Over 60 miles of sandy beaches, Over 100 golf courses, over 10,000 resturants, over 1,000 bars, nightclubs and discos, 4 indoor shopping malls with a 5th and soon to be largest in the state of SC under construction, 3 outlet parks ( more shopping where manufacturers set up no frills shops full of factory seconds and returned items that they sell really cheaply ), Over 10 performing arts theatres but keep in mind these are more like counrty music reviews, horseback riding with songs and dancin type places and of course a River Dance knock-off show, but at least the dancers are mostly Irish. We had planned to visit Myrtle anyway and decided to go to see not only the area but to be voyeurs and see the damage ($8m) – sad but true! When we arrived in the area we found a car park and thought we were set for the day. Several of the nearby trees had been blown down and we could see a couple of the taller hotels had some structural damage. Just outside the car park was an amusement park. This had a roller coaster (closed due to damage) and many of the usual rides found in these ... Read the complete review
