Narita town is actually a 'tourist' attraction or at least a religious one, in that many of the older temples around Japan have been moved here. Many festivals are held here, and the main street that leads down to the temple park, is often attractivly festooned with bunting. There are shops that sell very well made and pretty souvenirs such as the Duruma doll, which is based on a Buddhist disciple who cut off his arms and legs to prove his loyalty to Buddha. The doll is made of papier mache, you make a wish and if the wish comes true then the doll is burned (or something like that!)
