Advantages: People/Place lovely
Disadvantages: Food can be expensive
I was lucky enough to win a holiday to the Bahamas a few years ago and would recommend it to anyone. The beaches are beautiful (although can get busy) and the sea crystal clear. There are an awful lot of Americans there - they just pop over the same way we nip over to France. This has had an effect on the food - if you like American - ribs/Steaks/Grits etc you'll be fine if not hunt out the local eateries where they have a lot of seafood. The prices are quite expensive in the normal places but if you hunt out the local stuff it's a lot cheaper. If you book a taxi for the night ask for a stretch limo - it costs the same ! A lot of places do the American as much as you can eat and boy can some of them eat. You can go out to what looks like a spaceship at the end of a jetty and look out at the ocean and then go down and look out at the ocean floor which is really interesting - you can see fish/crabs etc scuttling around. You also can go to a park and walk through a sea tube with allsorts of "big" fish in. They have a M + S for anyone homesick and lots of tax free shops. Power cuts are the norm and most rooms come complete with candles - if the power goes off head to the Casinos they have seperate generaters and keep going - in fact they never close and theres always someone playing @ 8am in the morning !
