New DelhiNewest Review: ... food. I had been reading my guidebook on the flight, and thought that Connaught Place would be a good place to explore, as it was described as a more westernised area, which I thought would be perfect as everything was pretty overwhelming and we were pretty knackered. We jumped in an utoricksahw, told him where we wanted to go, and off we went! I love autorickshaws - I think they're a great ... more |

New Delhi Overwhelming, overcrowded, great fun! For many people, Delhi will be their first experience of India - it was mine. We arrived in Delhi airport at about 4 in the afternoon after flying for more than fourteen hours, with a brief rest in Abu Dhabi. We were tired, and grubby, but excited about embarking on our holiday and seeing India for the first time. The first thing you will probably have to do is exchange currency. The rupee is a closed currency so you won't be able to get any in advance and will need it to pay your taxi to your hotel! The currency exchange at the airport was fine. We had heard rumours of ... Another review about my travelling experiences. I went to Delhi when I was 5 years old which was quite a long time ago, but I still have many memories most of which I will try to highlight in this review. The first hurdle was getting all the necessary injections. I recall going to the doctor and being told to drop my trousers so she could give me an injection in my behind. I didn't understand what was going on, but did it all the same. I think I had about 5 injections in total and sometimes to this day I get mild twinges in my arm from all the injections I had. This was the first ever time I had been on an aeroplane and being a 5 year old child I ... Read the complete review

I have been to Delhi many times as part of my business trips. Every time I go there I find something new and exciting there. Delhi is in actual fact two cities Old Delhi and New Delhi all in one. Old Delhi is a place ideal for those who love History. New Delhi is the Modern city. In old Delhi there are many places to visit including both the red fort, qutham Minar Channi Choq. The first two are historical places built in the Mogul times. The former is a great place to buy really cheap authentic goods. Although if you are not prepared to adjust to the Indian way of living I would suggest that you stay away as it is a very busy places and not for the faint ... Read the complete review

Delhi, where a empire rose and fell before the dawn of history; where citadels of emperors appeared and disappeared; a city of mysterious eternity whose old ruins proclaim a majestic and imperial past and whose present pulsates vibrantly with the ever flowing life of India. The eternal Jamuna bears witness to the glorious and tumultuous 5,000 year old history of Delhi. A history which begins with the creation of Indraprastha by the Pandavas and the transformation of this barren gift of the Kauravas into an idyllic haven. A history which encompasses all the various kings and emperors who fixed their royal citadels here-- Indraprastha, Lal Kot, Quila Rai Pithora, ... Read the complete review
