As a result, the demographics and culture of the state are unique for their strong Spanish, Mexican, and U.S. Amerindian cultural influences. The United States Census Bureau estimates that the state population was 1,954,599 in 2006, a 7.45% increase since 2000.

I was lucky enough to be based in Los Alamos, New Mexico for a couple of years and so far, they were the best years of my life. During my time in the US I was able to travel reasonably widely and although each state has its own charms there is something about New Mexico that, as the license plates say, make it the 'Land of Enchantment'. Los Alamos itself is a small town, akin to many smallish University towns in the UK with a very unique history. For those that aren't aware it was where the nuclear bomb was developed that 'won the war'. I took a visit to Mexico during my two-week visit to California!!! I am not sure what part I went to, but it was really hot there! We went in a few shops and all of the, yes all of them, had ome sort of Mexican hats in!!! Those hats are really funny, they are liek cowboy ahts. This place is more for adults and little children will get fussy because there is not a lot to do for them.
