New OrleansNewest Review: ... http://www.hotelprovincial.com/amenitie s.html Travel: There are so many modes of transport in New Orleans its great to have the option to choose how you would like to see the City. For me one of the best modes of transport is walking. Having my accommodation in the French Quarter I could easily access the main square and the surrounding areas by foot, all the shops, bars and small museums ... more |

This review is about my time in the wonderful and majestic place known as New Orleans. This may be a long review, and for that I apologise in advance, however I don't want to write multiple reviews about the different places you can see and visit, I just feel its fitting to fit it all into one large informative review, which will hopefully attract people to visit this place, or to at least get some idea of what the culture, lifestyle is al about, what there is to see and do and so on. New Orleans has never been the same since Hurricane Katrina hit a few years back, the devastation and destruction it caused is still evident even today, with many abandoned house's, shops ... OK, it's half French, it has some history and its in the deep South. N'Orlins is a kicking place! When you are down in Loosana, you have to go and experience New Orleans. It has everything you would imagine that it should - it has the steamboats, the impressive bridge on the way out, the great Mississippi, the French Quarter and about 200 million voodoo and black magic shops (OK, maybe I exaggerate slightly!) You probably don't realise that the origins of New Orleans date back to about 1699 when two French brothers tried to colonise the New World. ... Read the complete review

Crawfish, crawfish, …………..Elvis singing from an elevated balcony over Bourbon Street. For those who have seen King Creole, the vision of New Orleans was emblazoned in my mind from the haunting music and deep southern accents portrayed in this movie. The reality was a bit different. Here are the memoirs of my first impression of a place, which I longed to visit and one I shall never return to. Anticipation was at its peak, as we pulled of the I10 at the exit for the French Quarter, home of music and famous for its cuisine. We neared the lights at the end of the exit ramp, when the sights of poverty and neglect met ... Read the complete review

'Oh god, what have I done?', I lifted my mascara streaked head from the pillow to gaze upon a floor strewn with clothes, plastic beads and drinks cups. The party city had struck. I was innocently exploring the cultural diversity of Americas Southern states with a group of like-minded young individuals on a TrekAmerica trip this summer. Sure, we'd had a few beers around the campfire every so often, but nothing had prepered us for the Pat'O'Brien 'Hurricane' - containing everything that is bad for you and makes you mad. My alcoholic tolerance was low due to the summers drought working in a kids camp for three months, my body was ... Read the complete review

I recommend anybody who visits New Orleans to go on a swamp tour. Basically New Orleans is built really close to swap land and within 30 minutes of the city you can reach swamp lands where you can see varied and unusual wildlife. Now there are loads of these swamp tours around, the cost varying from $20 to $50, and I suspect that unless you are passionatly interested in flora and fauna there isn't much need to spend in the upper price range. Generally the more expensive the tour the more remote the location and the smaller the boat. This allows you to go down the smaller bayous and is more atmostpheric but for the average person, the standard tour is ... Read the complete review
